2012 UCAT Summer Student Program (USSP 2012)



計畫緣由:

ALMA大型毫米/次毫米波陣列由54座直徑十二米和12座七米的電波望遠鏡組成，是有史以來最大的地面天文計畫。做為一個多用途之觀測儀器，ALMA是一可供每一個人觀測的設施。ALMA電波望遠鏡陣列結合前所未見地高靈敏度、高空間及光譜解析度、寬波段涵蓋範圍、和高成像精確度之觀測能力，將提供研究天體時空起源的窗口。 在中研院天文所的領導下，台灣亦加入了ALMA (ALMA－Taiwan計畫)。ALMA－T包括兩個主要團隊：中研院天文所和「ALMA－T大學聯合團隊」。中研院天文所主要負責望遠鏡的建造和營運、在營運階段協助台灣的科學家使用ALMA、並致力於最佳的ALMA科學研究。而聯合師大、中央、清大、成大、台大和淡江等六所大學成立之「大學聯合團隊」，則肩負促進台灣ALMA科學的重任。 無疑地，國內各大學成功訓練及培育新世代的科學家是ALMA－T邁向成功的基本關鍵。因此ALMA-T計畫的成功與否，各大學的努力，及鼓勵同學積極參與ALMA，便變得極為重要。因此為促進優良的ALMA科學，提升大學部同學參與ALMA研究之興趣，及培育大學生之研究能力，UCAT大學聯合團隊將於今年暑假，再次舉辦「UCAT暑期學生專題研究計畫」(USSP2012)，研究主題涵蓋「電波天文」和「天文物理」等。竭誠歡迎有志青年，踴躍報名參加。

計畫辦法:

  1. 計畫期間: 2012年7月09日(星期一)起至2012年09月07日(星期五)止
  2. 獎助學金: 每人每月新台幣二萬元整，為期2個月
  3. 預計錄取名額: 10名
  4. 申請截止日期: 2012年4月23日(星期一)
  5. 錄取名單公告日期: 2012年5月10日(星期四)
  6. 暑期研究計畫: 請見下表
  7. 申請學術背景: 具自然科學或資訊等理工相關科系背景，大三、大四之大學部同學優先錄取
  8. 申請方式: 請於申請截止日前提出申請。申請者請下載申請表，填寫基本資料及連絡方式、研究興趣、相關經歷和感興趣的研究計畫，並附上各學期之成績單影本 (JPG或PDF格式之電子檔亦可)。如果可能的話，請預備推薦信(最多兩封)，由推薦者在截止日期前寄達本系(DOC或PDF格式之電子檔亦可)

  10. 注意事項:
    • 暑假研究期間，每個星期將輪流在參與計畫的教授所屬之學校安排一天的課程，為參與計劃的同學補充計畫所需之知識。
    • 在暑期研究期間，如有其他要事必須請假，應先徵得指導老師的同意，並應利用計畫結束後之時間來補足，以完成專題研究
    • 暑期計畫結束當天(09月07日)，參加同學應就研究的題目作30分鐘公開的講演報告。此外，同學應提供一份適合在網頁上公開的書面報告，介紹自己的暑期研究成果
